(More customer reviews)I bought this tester because I have several vehicles and equipment with lead acid batteries.I wanted to find out more exacting results of battery capacity than with a 'toaster tester' or plain voltmeter.
I called Argus and spoke with a salesman there that took the time to advise me as to the products available. The AA300 is being replaced by the AA350.
The difference between the two models is that the AA350 will tell you if the tested battery is under 75% of the original amp hour rating of the battery, which would mean the battery is bad. However, even though the AA300 will not actually perform this calculation, it will tell you the current amp hour rating of the battery. If you can do simple math - take 75% of the original stated battery amp hour capacity and use that as the threshold of good/bad.That's all the AA350 does is make this same calculation.
What the AA350 doesn't do is tell you the cranking capacity of the battery under load, and the alternator condition while running. The AA300 does do this.
So, unless several people are going to use this device, I would really recommend purchasing the cheaper AA300 over the AA350.You will get more features for the money - do the 75% calculation on a calculator.
