This is the solution.

Often times, you need to probe a signal in a wire "in situ", or as it is, which means no disconnecting it and putting on extensions since they would affect your desired signal.

HOW IT WORKS:

There are 2 probes, one bigger than the other for different size wires.
Start by unscrewing it which opens the "jaw" for lack of a better term.Next insert the wire you want to look "inside" into the V notch. Now screw the probe closed. As you do a very fine piercing needle will come up shielded by an insulating tube. The needle will pierce the insulation to the center conductor and make contact, which is brought out via one of the many extensions provided to the powerprobe 3 (it includes retrofit parts for the powerprobe I and II so don't feel left out- you get a great upgrade in the process)

Once tight on the cable, it wont come off and you can connect either the powerprobe or a standard voltmeter to your pinprick.Best of all, the rubber is self-sealing in most cables. If you are very worried about moisture, a dab of rubber cement will seal the whole good as new.

These are precision tools and come with hard gold plated stackable banana plugs with safety shrouds so nothing shorts to ground unless you want it too. With these probes you can observe voltages inside wires being used without disturbing them.No disconnecting and no adapters are needed. It's a testers best friend.

Comes with a variety of cable lengths from 6" to 6' and in between. This saves time money and fustration in working on cars, boats, radios, and pc/macs.The case has room to hold other test adapters you may find handy too.
